Painted Churches of Lavaca County Route Plan

The Ride: A ride that covered two days and 350 miles through the beautiful back roads of Lavaca County to visit the historic painted churches. The ride departed from Austin, Texas and took us to Elgin, Flatonia, Moulton, Shiner, Yoakum, Hallettsville, Lockhart and Wimberly with visits to historic painted churches in Shiner, Sweet Home, Moravia and Praha. We also visited historic taverns in Flatonia and Moravia, toured the historic Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, had a very good meal at Kloesel's Steakhouse in Moulton, and had a relaxing stay at the Olle Hotel in Flatonia.
