Brazos River Ride Route Plan

T
he Ride: A Ride that covered two days and 395 miles along the Brazos River through the beautiful backroads of Falls and Limestone Counties. The ride departed from Austin and took us to the famous Green's Sausage House in Zabcikville, the historic towns of Calvert and Marlin, and the Falls Of The Brazos Park. Our second day included a visit to Groesbeck and Historic Fort Parker, where 9 year old Cynthia Parker was captured by Comanches in 1836. Cynthia was raised with the Comanches and married Comanche Chief Peta Nocona. She bore a son, Quannah Parker, the most famous of the great Comanche Chiefs. The ride also included a visit to the Branch Davidian Compound at Mount Carmel, the site of the Branch Davidian Siege by ATF and FBI agents in 1993, where eighty Branch Davidians and four ATF agents died.
